The Zoo

We finally made it to the zoo today. It was a bit chilly but not too bad. I think Max had a good time. He loved the giraffes which are one of his favorites. But the gorillas, another favorite, were not out and we didn't get to see the baby elephant. He did of course enjoy the train.
Next year we plan on having a season pass and going to the zoo often. Also, I think it will be fun to make it to the elephant and bird shows.

More on Max's Crush

This morning Max saw the picture of Boo on my previous post. He got so excited that I printed out a picture for him which he now carries everywhere.

From the pictures you can see how he is just watching and then suddenly lights up.

Max Update

A Logan Bump?
Just a few days after posting about Max's bump he decided to give it another shot. He fell on the concrete path. Still don't know if it qualified as a Logan bump but I hope he doesn't keep trying.

My Computer Geeks
James' work gave him a laptop so he could work from home. He has a big project and looming deadline so is on the laptop frequently. I thought it might help if Max had his own keyboard and happened to see this little computer at DI for $3. I just thought it would give him something to type on like his Dad but it actually has all kinds of learning games.

Blowing Kisses
Max recently learned how to blow kisses. So sweet! He also learned how to high-five. The funny thing about it is that I taught him but when you say high-five he will always go to James to do it. Guess it is a boy thing.

Max's First Crush

Max has recently discovered Monster's Inc and he adores Boo. He takes the movie case over to the TV and says "play" over and over until I start it. He wanders away from it until the little girl Boo appears and then he is glued to the TV. He giggles and imitates her; growling, chattering and spinning when she does.

Here are my boys anxiously awaiting her arrival on screen.

Just Make The Fudge!

I love fudge! It is easy to make, is so yummy and can be frozen. I cut it up into small size portions and only grab that when I am craving it instead of eating a whole pan. I had a batch last me two and half months. But, alas I have none in my freezer. I have been craving fudge all week. But we try to limit our sugar splurges to the weekend so I refrained. I didn't make fudge. Every day I thought about it and then stopped myself. I felt such self-control, such mastery over myself and my cravings.

Just tonight I realized what I have done. I snacked all week on things that normally hold no appeal to me; thing that are in the house because James like them; things like cheap chocolate covered peanuts and graham crackers with icing. I don't even like them but I was eating them...all trying to stave off my fudge craving for just a few days. Duh!

Instead of eating something that I truly enjoy (and is so rich that I don't eat a ton of it at once) I snacked on stuff that I really don't even like and kept stuffing my face with because it couldn't satisfy the craving. But hey, I made it to Friday without making fudge. And probably gained 10 pounds just because of all the crap I ate.

So tomorrow I may not even get out of my pajamas. I have only one thing planned for the day. How pathetic am I.
Marshmallow creme + cocoa squares + sugar + butter + evaporated milk = FUDGE!
Next time...I'm just gonna make the fudge already!

A Terrible Moment

Max fell down the stairs today. He is OK. Not a mark on him. But it was such a terrible moment. The thumps and the crash at the bottom and his cries. He has been going up and down the stairs just fine for weeks. I had just walked past him and was standing at the sink, my back to him. I think he was trying to take his firetruck downstairs. We took him in to see the pediatrician just to be sure. He was so cheerful all day. He needed a bit more time and reassurance than usual to go to bed, but he is OK. I'm so grateful that he is OK.
