Kara's 46th Birthday

As usual James spoiled me rotten for my birthday. He gave me a lap desk that I have had my eye on as well as "Mythos" and "Heroes" by Stephen Fry and a fun wall hanging of a quote by E. E. Cummins. Kellie(K) gave me a tea mug and a journal both made by her. And Kimber gave me two books; "Holding On" by a favorite author S. Michael Wilcox, and a book of 50 Calming exercises.

The day after my birthday was the release of the movie "A Quiet Place Part II." The release has been pushed off for over a year due to the pandemic and I was very excited to see it. I splurged for a luxury seat and was one of only three people in the theater. It was so good!

Memorial Day

We all greatly missed Great-Grandpa Liddell telling stories but we still enjoyed getting together as family to celebrate ancestors. James and Ally filled in telling stories of their grandparents and growing up years. After the cemetery we headed to the park for lunch and visiting.

Graduation

Kate and Jared were finally able to participate in graduation ceremony. Mike and Brooklyn planned a fun outdoor party which, due to weather, turned into a packed indoor party. (Dad and I were the only two wearing masks and it was very awkward to be at a family party under those circumstances; but I did what I felt was best.) It WAS really nice to see everyone! Johnny surprised everyone by flying in for  the occasion.

Kimber and I drove to the party together and she was very supportive. Afterwards she and I enjoyed time alone at the hotel. It was wonderful to be together in person and reconnect!

Tooele Police Station
We took a tour through the newly completed Police Station. It was very fun to see the forensics lab,  interview room, holding room, and talk with the detectives.

Piano Recital
Max and Zane participated in an outdoor recital.

Max's COVID Vaccine!

Max was SO excited to get his vaccine!
On May 12th the CDC gave final approval for the Pfizer Vaccine for 12+ age children. I didn't expect to be able to make an appointment so soon but was so very grateful when there were appointments available as soon as the next day. When I told him he jumped up and down with excitement.

Immediately after getting the shot Max said, "Yay, now I'm safe from COVID!" The nurse smiled and chuckled and I reminded him that he did still have to get a second shot. But it shows in his demeanor that he feels relief in having the shot. He is counting down the days until his second shot. And he prays that they will have a shot very soon for Zane.

(James and I were able to get the first Moderna shot on March 30th; the second on April 28th and were fully vaccinated May 12th. The second shot make us both feel awful for most of a day but it was well worth it. We are both so relieved and SO grateful!)

Shot #2

On June 3rd Max got his second shot.
He felt pretty awful that night and the next day but recovered quickly and is counting down the two weeks before he is fully vaccinated. We are so grateful!
