Sharing Time

I am going to be released from Primary next week so it was difficult for me to come up with any ideas. After much grumbling and stalling and some help from Kimber, I finally put together a Sharing Time. I found this game online and printed it out. Using a Charlie Brown figure and a large Bunco dice we played the game.

During the game things happen, such as hitting your brother, or obeying your mom. The kids got to use the double sided smiley/frowny face to say whether it was good or bad.
















Then as certain questions were asked we built the double sided puzzle showing Jesus being baptized and a little girl being baptized.
















The kids really enjoyed it and I felt that it went very well. But I will be glad not to do it again for a long time.

Puppy Update

We have had our puppy Sam for about a month now. We had a really rough start to begin with. James is taking care of the majority of the care and training of Sam, but I take care of him during the work hours. We have gotten into a routine which has made things easier. Every morning Max, Sam and I take a walk, then Sam has some time outside until Max goes down for his nap, then Sam goes into his crate for his nap. All in all I don't have to do much, which is good because I am not sold on this yet. I would still be okay (and relieved) if we returned him. But I am working on having a good attitude, especially because James has done what he said he would, which is pretty much everything.

Max enjoys the puppy, but they are both still too young to really spend anytime together without supervision. Sam bites and jumps and Max pokes at his eyes and pulls his ears. Hopefully as Sam grows up and learns not to bite they will become good companions. And hopefully I will enjoy the dog a little more than I enjoy the puppy.

Book Group

Book Group was at my house this month and we read one of my favorite books...The Goose Girl. We didn't spend as much time as I would like discussing the book, but we rarely do. I was a little nervous but several women came and everyone enjoyed themselves. I had fruit pizza for a snack, but instead of putting it on the cookie I had the fruit out for everyone to put on themselves. Several of them asked me for the recipe.


Tiffany came over early and we spent time before and after talking in depth about the book. She hadn't read it before and enjoyed it so much that she borrowed the second book, Enna Burning, so we were able to discuss both books. I very much enjoy the girl's night out but regret that so much of the conversation revolves around the same topics and even some of the same stories repeated over and over.

Relatives, Bread, Jam, BBQ, Soup, and a headache.

Last Saturday I woke up with a massive headache. I had so many plans for the day and was just annoyed so decided I would do it all anyway. Max's cousins and Uncle spent the afternoon with us. I managed to keep going with the help of large amounts of caffeine and made jam and bread.

Lexi wanted to help so she cut strawberries and helped make the jam. When she left I let her take a bottle of jam. It was a nice day so we pulled out our brand new grill and had hamburgers, hotdogs and veggie burgers. For dinner I made Kimber's taco soup. Homemade soup, bread and jam...So yummy! It was a very painful and yet productive day.

Book Exchange

My friend Tiffany invited me to a book exchange; a fun twist on a book group. I sorted through my books and selected those that I probably won't read again and exchanged them with other people who have done the same thing.

It was a great afternoon spent wandering around a table filled with books, meeting new people, having conversations about why this person is trading in this book, what they liked and disliked, and watching as everyone left with excitement over the armfuls of new-to-them books. It was a great way to clean out the bookshelves and collect new reading material as well as a a fun way to meet new people who share a love of books.

Kid To Kid Finds

I have been making weekly trips to Kid To Kid and it finally paid off.
I found several pair of pajamas for Max.

I found five pair of 18 month pajamas.

(Which probably won't even last until 18 months.)

And three pair of 24 month.

Here he is "doing the dishes" in his new jammies.
(I swear I only turned my back for a second.)

Ouch!

While rushing to check on a the loud crash from the next room I caught my toe.

It is the toe that required surgery and is lacking a knuckle so did not bend when I caught it.

It is swollen and bruised.
But doesn't hurt much unless stepped on, which Max seems to be doing frequently today.
