Zane: "Mom, you can't redo the past can you?"
Me: No, sweetie you can't. Is there something you wish you could undo?"
Zane: Yea, all the times I was a bully."
Max watched the children's acts on Season 12 of America's Got Talent. He particularly loved the dog acts. One act however made him cry. 11 year old Merrick Hanna danced to a song about a robot friend who is left behind and dies when exposed to water.
At bedtime, Max wanted to be cuddled and said he couldn't go to sleep because he was so sad. When I asked him why he said, "I'm just so sad about that robot dying."
What a sweet and sensitive kid!
We have been trying out the Teaching Self Government parenting lessons in our home. Zane in particular has really enjoyed being able to "disagree appropriately."
One night at bedtime he wanted to get out of bed for something. Then he told me that it was actually Elly (his elephant) who wanted to get out of bed. And then he had this conversation with her.
Elly: (Zane's squeaky voice): "Let's get out of bed Zane."
Zane: "Elly, can I disagree appropriately? I know you want to get out of bed but Mom told us to go to bed and we need to do what she says."
Elly apparently said "okay" because he told her she did a good job accepting a no answer.
